Make Pizza Night Even More Fun With Animal-Shaped Mini Pies

Pizza's a win no matter what, but when we want to up the fun factor, we turn our food into a friend! All you have to do is shape your dough and arrange your toppings to make a cute critter face.

Make Your Own Animal Pizzas!

What you'll need:

  • Pizza dough
  • Kitchen shears
  • Pizza sauce
  • Cheese
  • Toppings

Step 1

Roll out your pizza dough and shape it into your favorite animal. Kitchen shears can be a big help here. It's trickier to shape a bigger slab of dough, so opt for personal pizzas.

Step 2

This part is the trick: bake the naked crusts at 450 F for 4-5 minutes. This pre-baking helps set the shape of the crust, so the pizzas end up looking great once they're "decorated." In the meantime, prepare all your toppings. We used chopped up olives and peppers, but the sky (or the fridge) is the limit!

Step 3

Time to make those faces! Start by layering your sauce and cheese, then add the facial features. Don't worry about being too detailed — if you've got the eyes, ears and nose, you're in good shape.

Step 4

Pop the pizzas back in the oven for another 4-6 minutes. If you plan to add any finishing touches with cheese, pull the pizzas back out, add the cheese and bake for 2-3 more minutes.

Cooking is all about creativity. Bringing new and unexpected flavors together is a fun (and delicious) way to express yourself, and it’s even better when you can do it with your kids! Join Top Chef alum Fabio Viviani as he puts his pizza-making skills to the test. He’s challenged to make crazy-delicious pizzas using different — and sometimes strange — ingredients, from bananas to crickets. In each episode, one of Fabio’s kid-sidekicks spins a wheel to randomly select two ingredients that he must use. And, in honor of the YouTube Pizza Challenge, they both must taste the results.

Breads are some of the most challenging baked goods to make without gluten. Shauna will show you that you don't need to go without. She'll walk you through using psyllium husk (an insoluble fiber that absorbs liquid like nobody's business) and you'll make the ultimate gluten-free pizza dough and a simple sandwich bread.
