Spring? Is that you? Spring has been sneaking in and out of my home here in North Carolina, and I couldn't be happier about it! There are many reasons to look forward to the season (buh-bye, winter coat!) but perhaps one of the best reasons is the arrival of cherry blossoms.
Every few years I attend the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. and come home with a head full of crafty inspiration. If you've never been to the festival, it runs from March 20 - April 13 and features everything from performances to art exhibits that celebrate spring and the beautiful cherry blossom.
Naturally, cherry blossoms are represented in many crafty ways, including fibers. One of my favorite ways to re-create cherry blossoms? Yarn , of course!

Cherry blossom pillow cover
The 3-D blossoms that pop right off the pillow cover drew me right to this pattern. Worried about seaming all those time-consuming cherry blossoms onto the cover? Don't be! The blossoms are worked right into the pattern, so finishing is a snap. The pattern comes with a chart, too, for crocheters who like that extra visual.

Blossom i-Phone case
What better way to show off your love of spring and cherry blossoms than with an accessory you can take with you everywhere? If you don't need a phone case, you could always turn this pattern into a coin purse or even a case for another tech device, like an e-reader.
Cherry blossom appliqué
Appliqué crochet patterns are awesome because you can do almost anything with them. Crochet as many of these as you'd like and then stick them to totes, clothing, etc. Use pearls for the center like designer Mamta did, or just grab some beads out of your stash.

Cherry blossom purse for girls
You probably didn't need more evidence that cherry blossoms are adorable crochet embellishments . This crochet purse only requires one ball of yarn, and since it's crocheted with bulky-weight yarn , it works up quickly. Don't let the fact that it's a pattern for girls stop you from making a few adult versions, too!

Cherry blossom hat
For those of you who still get snow in March, this cheery cherry blossom hat will come in handy for more than just warmth. The pattern calls for worsted-weight yarn , so you might even have some scrap yarn in your stash that you can use for this project.
Cherry blossom headband
This headband pattern can be altered to fit any size head, from babies to adults. It's a great way to welcome spring back into your wardrobe -- especially after wearing so many drab winter coats. Another great project to pull from your yarn stash, you could use any color you'd like as the headband's base to make it even more colorful.
