A Trio of Red, White and Blue Cocktails for the 4th of July

Fourth of July celebrations are usually an explosion of red, white and blue — and not just with the fireworks. Go all-out with your decor and drinks with these festive cocktails.

Hurricane Cocktail

Yield: 1 drink

Hurricane  Cocktail for Fourth of July

Ingredients

  • 1½ ounce dark rum
  • 1½ ounce light rum
  • 2 ounces passion fruit juice
  • 1 ounce orange juice
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce grenadine
  • Orange wedge or maraschino cherry (for garnish)
  • Instructions

    1. In a shaker, combine all ingredients. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, or until cold.

    2. Pour everything into a tall hurricane glass or other large glass. Garnish with an orange wedge and a maraschino cherry.


    Coconut Rum Punch Cocktail

    Yield: 1 drink

    Jamaican Rum Punch for Fourth of July

    Ingredients

  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1 ounce dark rum
  • 2 ounces coconut milk
  • 1½ ounces cream of coconut
  • Instructions

    1. In a shaker, combine all ingredients. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, or until cold and well-combined.

    2. Pour everything into a stemless wine glass — or a coconut, if you have one — and garnish with a funky cocktail pick or tropical umbrella.


    Blue Hawaiian Cocktail

    Yield: 1 drink

    Blue Hawaiian Cocktail for Fourth of July

    Ingredients

  • ¾ ounce vodka
  • ¾ ounce light rum
  • ½ ounce blue Curaçao
  • 3 ounces pineapple juice
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup (or substitute 1 ounce sour mix for lemon juice and simple syrup)
  • Pineapple wedge (for garnish)
  • Instructions

    1. In a shaker, combine all ingredients. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, or until cold.

    2. Pour everything into a tall glass. Garnish with a cocktail umbrella and a pineapple wedge.
