Tip #1: When making a dress or a tunic length top, consider piecing the back panel of the garment with eyelet fabric.
I recently sewed my daughter a simple A-line dress but only bought enough of the zebra cotton print to cut out the front and approximately 2/3 of the back of the dress. By piecing the top back portion of the dress with ecru eyelet fabric, I was able to add an unexpected element to the back of her dress. The holes in the eyelet fabric also allow this dress to breathe, which makes it perfect for keeping cool on a hot summer day!

Tip #2: Construct the sleeves of a top or t-shirt out of eyelet fabric or trim.
As seen in this cowgirl top tutorial from Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop, the sleeves of a simple short-sleeved top can be cut from a piece of wide eyelet trim or fabric. Not only does this eliminate the need for hemming the sleeve, it also makes an otherwise basic top or t-shirt dressier and more girly.

Tip #3: Add eyelet trim to a slip hem.
Jen at iCandyHandmade shows you how to add eyelet trim to the bottom of a silky slip. She wears her slip under skirts that she likes but feels are too short to wear alone. The modest eyelet trimmed slip extender peeks out of the bottom of her skirt providing a few extra inches of coverage.

Tip #4: Use eyelet trim in lieu of sewing fabric ruffles.
Sometimes gathering small ruffles to add to garment plackets or near hem lines can be daunting and laborious. To skip all the work of gathering, simply use a piece of pre-gathered eyelet trim instead.
