By definition, the word monochrome is used to describe an object that is made in shades of a single color, but that doesn’t mean one solid color. Why choose the monochrome look?
With all of the beautiful printed fabric out there, why would a quilter choose to create an entire quilt out of just one color? Here are just a few reasons!
- Visual impact: Monochrome quilts are truly eye catching. They don’t seem to be very common anymore, so they are quite stunning.
- Challenge: It’s not easy to work with just one color! Pattern choice can be more difficult because the focal point is really on the design.
- Minimal fabric selection: Though it might be challenging to choose the design, the actual process of fabric selection is quite easy. Simply raid your fabric stash for your chosen color! The most effective prints consist of only that color, or those mixed with white. To make fabric selection even easier, choose a single solid fabric!
