Project Runway Recap: 3 Ways We're Inspired By This Week's Show on Bravo

This week gave us our first peek at the designers’ final collections, and we’re beyond excited. Even though we still have to wait for the final runway show, we’re ready to start making NOW with these projects inspired by the designers’ works in progress.

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

With shimmer and sparkle galore, a certain designer’s collection rocked an undeniable outer-space vibe. We’re suddenly craving a batch of these cosmo cookies...

Meet Amber Spiegel and find out how to blend your icing wet on wet for a smooth surface and master the art of subtle color transitions. Then, use gel coloring to paint directly onto your wet icing for deep, saturated colors.

Seeing Red

While one designer’s collection was flush with gorgeous prints, it was her solid ensemble that stole the show. Want to get in on the vibrant red color story? Dye up a batch of yarn, then knit it into your own show-stopping sweater.

Learn how to prep your yarn for dyeing, how to create rich solid colors with superwash wool, and how to wash and rinse your dyed fibers.

Lovely Leather

Yes, it’s true — one designer created his own fabric by laser cutting strips of leather and weaving them by hand. We can’t get enough of it, which is why you’ll find us making all the leather things from now on, starting with these bags.

Meet instructor Don Morin and start designing your bag. Learn about construction methods and discuss bag functionality.

Let's Sharpen Your Skills!

On every episode of Bravo’s Project Runway, you can bet a designer will struggle with something creatively. If only they had Bluprint on the brain! Each week, we’ll highlight a few of our favorite mishaps (been there!) — and share easy ways to fix them.

Safety First

The runway wasn’t the only place we saw red on this week’s show (ouch!). Sometimes creativity comes at a price, like a painful snip of the finger. Watch out for those needles, scissors and especially rotary cutters .

Make it Fit, Fast

A tailored suit in two days is a lot to ask of any designer, but it’s not impossible — especially when you have our tips for speed tailoring .
