About quarter-square triangle quilt blocks

Quarter-square triangles are a traditional square quilt block made up of four equal triangles. Any desired combination of fabrics can be used in piecing this block: two pairs of two fabrics, four different fabrics, or any other combination of one to four fabrics. Stitch some quarter-square triangle blocks together and you’ll have the beginnings of a new project.

By using a combination of light and dark fabrics in your quarter-square triangle blocks, you can create a lot of fun secondary designs in your quilts. The very popular Ohio Star block is actually composed of four quarter-square triangle blocks in combination with five same sized squares.
