Step 2:

Cut each ball in half.

Step 3:

Roll each half into a droplet. If one half is larger than the other, use the larger half for the football.

Step 4:

Make a football by gently creating a point on the rounded side of the droplet.

Step 5:

We will turn the other droplet into a long three-sided pyramid. Start by flattening the bottom by gently pushing it down onto your work surface. Then, lay it flat and elongate and flatten one side at a time on your work surface.

Step 6:

Once all the pieces have been shaped, place them in the fridge.

Dipping and decorating

Step 1:

Melt white candy coating in a microwave-safe tall and narrow container, preferably a plastic cup, coffee mug or measuring cup. For full instructions on melting candy coating and tips with dipping, refer to the cake pop dipping tutorial. Keep this container in the microwave until step 4.

Step 2:

Remove cake pop pieces from the refrigerator and let rest at room temperature for 3-5 minutes.

Gather your sticks and cake pop stands.

Step 3:

I suggest you use a pointed barbecue skewer to pierce through the triangular cake portion, to make a guide for the lollipop stick to be able to slide all the way through. This is a completely optional step, but I promise it will help make the process so much easier.

Next, remove the skewer and press a lillipop stick through the triangualr piece until 1/4-inch of the stick is visible at the top. Use your fingers to press and reshape the cake along the stick if needed.

Step 4:

These next steps will need to be done quickly. Remove the candy coating from the microwave and give it a little stir. If it doesn’t feel as smooth, give it a quick reheat and a stir. Make sure the footballs are close by.

Dip the triangular trophy base into the coating. Gently shake off the excess.Insert football onto the 1/4 inch exposed stick at a 45 degree angle. Make sure the tip of the football that is facing downward is lined up with a flat side of the trophy base.

Place on a cake pop stand and repeat for the other pieces.

Step 5:

Once all the trophy bases have been dipped and footballs affixed, we will begin to dip the footballs, but only to the neck of the trophy. The base will not be dipped again.

Carefully dip until the coating covers the entire football and meets the neck of the trophy. Let the

excess drip off and place on a cake pop stand to let dry completely.

Tip: use a toothpick to puncture air bubbles and to help guide the candy coating off of the cake pop.

Step 6:

Pour a small amount of the remaining white coating into the corner of a ziplock bag.

Snip the tip with scissors and pipe a vertical line down the center of the football and some small horizontal lines for the laces.

Pipe two more horizontal lines that wrap around the face of the football, about 1/4 inch away from the tips. Place on the stand and let dry completely.

Step 7:

This is the fun part! Let’s bring these trophies to life by making them silver!

Dry brush silver luster dust on to them, by dabbing a fluffy brush into the silver and brushing the entire cake pop.
