What's Better Than an Orange-Cranberry Cocktail? Three of Them!

      Actions

Cranberries and oranges may scream holiday baking, but these awesome flavors deserve to make an appearance on your cocktail cart, too. Whip up a batch of my Homemade Orange-Cranberry Vodka , then play mix master with these oh-so-festive cocktails. Bonus: This infused vodka also makes a great gift.

      Orange Cranberry Cosmo

Any cosmo lover can tell you that this classic drink already incorporates orange and cranberry flavors, so using the infused vodka here is a no-brainer. The flavors end up even more intense and more delicious than normal. (Who knew it was possible?!)  A cosmo is typically served in a martini glass, but I prefer the look of a coupe glass instead.

      Yield: 1 cocktail

      Ingredients

      Directions:

In a shaker, combine all the ingredients. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, or until cold. Strain into a coupe or martini glass and garnish with a whole cranberry to serve.

      Winter Sangria

Sangria is usually a boozy fruit punch served in the summer, but why wouldn't you enjoy it all year 'round? This winter twist has warm citrus flavors that are just right for a cozy fireplace and a chilly night. Orange bitters are the magic secret ingredient here, and they're easy to find at the liquor store.

      Yield: 1 cocktail

      Ingredients

      • 1 oz Orange-Cranberry Vodka
      • 1 1/2 oz red wine
      • 3/4 oz Cointreau or Triple Sec
      • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
      • 2 dashes orange bitters

      Directions:

In a shaker, combine all the ingredients. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, or until cold. Strain into a wine glass and garnish with an orange wedge to serve.

      Cranberry Moscow Mule

If you love the bright, spicy flavor of a good ginger beer, step right up. Adding cranberry-infused vodka to the mix gives this mule a hint of berry flavor and a deep red color that is totally party-ready. Skip the traditional copper mugs and go for clear glassware to let that color shine.

It's worth picking up a true ginger beer for this mixer; it's way more intense than run-of-the-mill ginger ale. My go-to brand is Fever Tree, but you can use whatever you like.

      Yield: 1 cocktail

      Ingredients

      Directions

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in vodka and lime juice and stir to combine, then top with ginger beer. Garnish with fresh cranberries and a lime wedge, and serve with a straw.

      Substitutions

These drinks all call for Orange-Cranberry Infused Vodka. But if you don't have time to make any, it's all good. Substitute regular vodka with a few modifications:

      • Cranberry Orange Cosmo: Reduce vodka to 1 1/2 oz and add and additional 1/2 oz cranberry juice
      • Winter Sangria: Add in 1/2 oz cranberry juice without changing any other quantities
      • Cranberry Moscow Mule: Add in 1 oz cranberry juice and 1/4 oz Cointreau or Triple Sec without changing any other quantities
