Knit Front and Back (KFB)

  • The knit front and back (KFB) stitch is an increase, which means you're taking one stitch and turning it into two. There are many ways to increase stitches, but the KFB is a solid, go-to method.

    1. 1. Insert your right needle into the next stitch as if to knit (from left to right, front to back).

    2. 2. Wrap your yarn around the right needle and pull through a new stitch.

    3. 3. Do NOT drop the stitch from your left needle just yet! Pivot your right needle, and insert it through the back loop of the stitch still on your left needle.

    4. 4. Wrap the yarn around your right needle again, and pull through a second loop.

    5. 5. Now you can drop the stitch from your left needle. You've created two stitches from that one stitch.
